if the work isn't ready/you're not in love you can do the work to make it ready after you've signed them

gatekeepers have to stop making room only for black voices that come from white spaces. recognize how poor resource allocation, and over-policing in our schools and communities, along with the lack of representation, all steer us away from employment in publishing

that means that sometimes it takes a little bit more work. we have unique issues that need addressing. it means you have to meet black authors halfway when we don't sound how you'd expect. do the work to lift us up economically and not just when things like this are going on
