Alright I& #39;m ready to drop what I think is going on with BC: what we& #39;re seeing in a lot of peoples& #39; mixed reactions to BC is similar to how people hate the world building, slow, or otherwise setup chapters in One Piece for being boring but in its own unique way...
... I think there& #39;s a good portion of the BC community that can& #39;t stand reading weekly as it makes things feel like they develop slower and it takes longer to get through content they don& #39;t like which is amazing as originally BC was known for its really fast pacing...
...We& #39;ve seen this represented a couple times in how long the Zagred fight felt weekly, but in the anime and in binge reading its not as long as we thought. Turns out about 14 chapters (I think) goes a lot faster/more satisfyingly when binged then spread out over 14 weeks...
... I think its fine that some people don& #39;t enjoy the weekly reading experience and I think BC works better when binged. I& #39;ve done both weekly and binge for the manga/anime and majority of the problems I had the first time around WEEKLY didn& #39;t occur to me at all when binging...
...Theres something about how just sitting down and taking it all in at once that is more relaxing, hype and satisfying. Especially for BC. There& #39;s some manga that are just fine in the weekly format in fact I think MHA is way better weekly then binged IMO...
...I wouldn& #39;t say people who don& #39;t like reading weekly& #39;s issues are not valid, I would say that I think their frustrations with the series are based more around pacing when we only get 13-15 pages a week and I think with the timeskip the series has changed...
...in the respect that Tabata has decided to get right into another big saga right away instead of building it up slowly among multiple arcs. I think what we& #39;re seeing here is similar to One Piece& #39;s timeskip where instead of getting slow build up and connecting seemingly random..
...aspects we& #39;re instead getting a larger, longer framework for Tabata to work in and where each arc within the Spade Kingdom Saga can work off of each other successively instead of connecting it all together in the end. Sorta similar to One Piece handles writing post timeskip...
...Of course One Piece& #39;s writing post timeskip is pretty controversial and many prefer the writing pretimeskip and I& #39;ll admit making these claims that I have in this thread is pretty bold BUT this is MY impression from how Tabata has crafted the Spade Kingdom Saga thus far...
...So it makes perfect sense to me that people are feeling frustrated with the seemingly lackluster pacing and slower development because as a series we& #39;re simply used to a faster paced state of being and with payoffs given to us more frequently as arcs ended sooner...
...in the past and we moved on to completely new territory pretty fast as well. I think there& #39;s a lot of things that point to the fact that the current arc we& #39;re in is just the BEGINNING of what the Spade Kingdom Arc has to offer us and I& #39;ll explain how but I do want to say...
...that even acknowledging that this is just the beginning if you still don& #39;t like certain aspects or don& #39;t enjoy the direction that is perfectly fine and I respect that so many people have been willing to talk with me from many different angles of the discussion surrounding...
...The series right now. As for examples of how I think the Spade Kingdom Saga is merely in its intro phase I think the fact that we& #39;re seeing similar "mini arcs" play out with Yuno, Asta, and Noelle fighting and losing their fights along with learning more about the Dark Triad..
... their abilities as well as other aspects such as the presumed Vice Captain of the Black Bulls behind the scenes and the power system enhancements we& #39;ve seen such as runes, arrays, new mana zone applications and more Devil users/abilities/powers and I truly believe...
... Tabata is simply setting the stage right now for a crazy saga to take place. These elements I& #39;ve just laid out now are just being built up, revealed and shown right now but think of how amazing it& #39;ll be when all of those things are eventually combined, work off each other...
...and really start to ebb and flow against each other. Imagine the strategy that could potentially come into play in how the power system is slowly evolving and adding all these new elements. I think its going to be extremely interesting and awesome to see personally...
...And that& #39;s not to mention all the other aspects such as the better character writing we& #39;re seeing with Yuno, Asta, and Noelle losing and other characters hitting new obstacles to overcome in different ways. The emotional character writing I believe will payoff tremendously...
...on top of the awesome aspects of the battle system, and ever changing world building and character building that we& #39;re seeing outside of on screen events. Sorry this got so wordy and it may have felt aimless at times but I really hope you guys got something out of this..
..thread because I enjoyed making it and I really enjoyed talking with everyone whether you are enjoying the series currently or not because at the end of the day I really love Black Clover and what it does. I also acknowledge there were a TON of assumptions about how the Spade..
...Kingdom Saga will turn out, I& #39;ve done this many times but I think theorizing like this is a lot of fun when reading manga and participating in the community. Feel free to give me crap for some things if they turn out WAY differently but I enjoy putting myself out there.
