thread of articles i'm reading to better understand current events/the background of them, will be updated as i read things:
while this article is referring to cops in ireland, it does a great job at explaining the exact meaning of #acab http://www.wsm.ie/c/acab-all-cops-are-bounded
also just wanna say that I'm making this thread primarily for myself to keep track of (re)sources-- I'm seeing a lot of tweets go around with good information about police history, police brutality, etc but they aren't sourcing their information. and while I wish we could live
in a world where I could trust everything I see on the internet, the truth is you NEED to cite information or else things can end up hurting people more than helping them. so while not all of these articles are going to be academically-based, i'm going to try my best to find
sources that are credible, or at least analyze a topic with insight, rather than continue to retweet threads with no sources (might end up qrt'ing them with sources too we'll see)
good thread talking about the origin of the police with good sources at the end!: https://twitter.com/twsdeku/status/1266091891281416192?s=20
