Okay guys what I was saying is that the hashtags and videos were never banned from what I saw. I’ve BEEN seeing it all week. There’s been no lack of BLM content on tiktok recently. If you read this it explains that when you looked up certain # it displayed 0 as the view count https://twitter.com/tiktoksupport/status/1266498058478596097
And there were other hashtags apparently affected by the “glitch”. Fishy, yes. And idk the behind the scenes but the content wasn’t banned, I’m speaking from what I literally saw. So as I stated in my other thread, tiktok has still been a pivotal platform in sharing important...
...BLM related content. Yet I’m already being jumped on to boycott the app. I understand where people are coming from and the confusion and whatnot but to already be attacking ppl who just use the app is a bit much. That’s my thing. But I digress....
Deleted that first set of tweets because people were not reading all the way to the actual point I was trying to make. I’m not on the opposing side of the BLM movement, that’s for sure. Just saying tiktok, despite its issues, has been a huge platform for black posts to go viral
If we stop using it, that just removes OUR content from a big audience (and honestly one of the main audiences that needs to see it *cough* white kids) because it’s still huge platform. Just another way of thinking about it since the content itself is not actually being banned.
Is the representation over there equal and fair? No. We haven’t received that fairness on any big platform unfortunately. But I have seen a good amount of black creators thrive and important messages being spread so I was leaning into using the tool to our advantage.
