just posted this on Instagram bc like 80% of my followers are white, already 1 person replied excusing herself as to why she can& #39;t post anything I DONT WANT TO HEAR IT
I get that social media feels passive and obviously if you say one thing and behave a completely different way then that& #39;s wrong but showing other white people where you stand is extremely important. don& #39;t let racists think they have a pass with you. don& #39;t stay silent. PLEASE
I& #39;m judging every white person posting their regular aesthetic pics right now ignoring the situation. social media is not real life but it is a tool that amplifies what we want to show you the world. what is your SILENCE showing?
if you& #39;re not posting at all tbh I probably won& #39;t notice because I follow too many people but the ones who are actively posting as if nothing is happening are cowards. you want attention for yourself more than you want justice. ok
I especially mean this for people who know you in real life and respect you as a family member, friend, fellow white person. it is an uphill battle for poc to change someone& #39;s view who& #39;s already bigoted against them. however coming from their beloved niece/cousin you have power
message me if you want to discuss, my earlier posts in this thread probably came off angrier than I meant to. I have a lot of experience w these convos and am glad to help, if that fear is the reason why you don& #39;t want to post.
