"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” While I know many of you are up to speed with what’s happening, I wanted to take a second to go through what’s going on and where I’m at with it for those who might not:
This past Monday, a man named George Floyd was murdered. Not only by a bad man, but by a bad pattern of systematic fear and racism we’ve had to witness time and time again. As was a man named Ahmaud Arbery in February and a woman named Breonna Taylor in March.
I am consistently heartbroken, outraged, demoralized, and embarrassed by the evil that seems to persist in our country, especially in a culture that has awoken so defiantly in recent years and has been so heroic in its outcry against it. Because it just. keeps. happening.
Like millions of people I’ve also said the words "I can’t take it anymore" more times than anyone should have to say it. So I would encourage anyone reading this to honor the lives of those that have been taken by knowing their names. George Floyd. Ahmaud Arbery. Breonna Taylor.
Know their stories. And if those stories infuriate you as much as they do me, fight back by raising your voice. Arm yourself with knowledge. Fuel yourself not with hatred but with the pursuit of justice. #BlackLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter
I definitely don’t have the answers. I’m looking for them every day and constantly learning from people much wiser than myself as I try to make sense of it all... #BlackLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter
But as I do that, I hope that you will join me in taking heed, taking heart, and taking whatever action you can to add constructively & compassionately to this movement (not to mention SAFELY during this pandemic!) Here are some places to start, as I have. https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
