okay, my ATL folks—especially those not experienced w/direct action—it’s almost completely dark outside and as such, the police WILL get more violence. if you/your folks are not prepared for that, please go home.
this is the same city that kidnapped my fam ( @YesAurielle). this is the same city that has pointed guns at us. this is the same city with cops that have called me by NAME at protests. they are violent af. and if you are not prepared for that, something very severe can happen.
APD is one of the most violence police forces in the nation. Chief Shields talks a good game, but her force will murder us and walk—as they have time and time again.
if you are going to stay:
1. make sure you are with one or two other people, at LEAST.
2. text/email someone an emergency contact. and share your location (iPhone users).
3. keep your face covered.
4. be aware of all police around you at all times.
5. be hypervigilant with regard to all white people (especially the ones you do not know)
6. do not remove anything from your person until you have left the protest.
7. i said this already, but KEEP YOUR FACE COVERED.
. @KeishaBottoms is currently live invoking MLK’s name, calling these protests “not atlanta” and “chaos.” this is the language they use before they give police full authority to do whatever they want to do.

IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THIS, OR ARE NOT EXPERIENCED, LEAVE.
good question! ideally, you shouldn’t uncover until you are back at your car or away from the radius of the protest scene. safest bet is to wait until you’re home. just go straight there. https://twitter.com/antigoneflower/status/1266541894311559168?s=21 https://twitter.com/antigoneflower/status/1266541894311559168
