After seeing the Black and White’s subway billboard today, I wanted to know more about this culture of publicizing ships in Korea, so I started to look into it. Here’s a summary of what I found (check thread for details). All sources will be cited. +
K Pop Metro ads are very commonplace

BTS had the most metro ads of any K Pop group

Jungkook had the most Metro ads of any K Pop idol

Ads are taken out for birthdays and anni

Entire trains have been decorated as ads

Jikook anni ads go way back

There are also Taekook ads

+
BTS holds the record for Metro ads at 227.

Jungkook as the idol with the most individual billboards, with 46 ads.

BTS' V with 31 ads.

Ads are taken out for birthdays and anniversaries of many K Pop idols.

Sometimes entire trains are decorated for a member's birthdays.

Below are the birthday trains for 2019 Jungkook and 2019 Jimin.

The interesting thing was the responses that some of these ads got. I will let you form your own conclusion but here are some screen shots from a Taekook ad.

Compare this to the responses from Black and White's most recent Jikook ad.

Why do you think people responded so differently? (All the Korean translate to positive things like thank you or beautiful.)
I can't really draw a scientific or absolute conclusion from this but I think it is an interesting observation and I wanted to share what I found. You can draw your own conclusions and if want to chat, feel free to DM me.

Here are some other ads I found just for fun.
