More than 100 people here now. Vast majority are wearing masks. Few police vehicles visible but no officers very close to protest
At least 150 protestors now. Chanting names of George Floyd and others killed by police. (As you can tell, little to no social distancing.)
Paris Moore, 29, lives in Fort Worth but came to Dallas because “at some point enough is enough...you can’t stay home.”

Protest going for about an hour now. Probably more than 275 people now. Speaker encouraging ongoing support and calls for action from those here today
More than 300 people now. A man on a motorcycle that drove by was blaring a specific NWA song
At least 350 to 400 people in plaza outside Dallas PD headquarters, with others lining sidewalks across the street. Speaker talking critically of state troopers policing in South Dallas
500 or more people now. Plaza is full. Protest going for about 90 minutes. Everything very peaceful
Signs I see:
- “Justice for George”
- “Black Lives Matter”
- “End Injustice”
- “Please, I can’t breathe.”
- “No justice, no peace”

Few others with expletives.

Definitely more than 500 people now.
Speaker: “If you see me dying, don’t record it. Save my life!” Gets a big round of applause.

Maybe 550 or more now. Crowd spilling a little into Lamar Street
About 2 hours in to protest. Police shutting down part of Lamar and Belleview. Sounds like protestors may march soon
State Sen. Royce West (who’s running for the Democratic nomination in the US Senate race) has crowd take a knee. Says a prayer, asks for justice.
At least 700 people now. Very crowded, no social distancing but plenty of masks, still peaceful.
Speaker going after Dallas politicians, including the mayor. Moves on next to community organizations distributing food to people inneed during the COVID pandemic.
People in more of Lamar now. Chanting “no justice, no peace.” Organizers taking about “shutting this down with purpose.”
After about 2.5 hours, march starts down Belleview toward downtown.
“I can’t breathe.” (I’ve seen three police officers handling traffic around the DPD headquarters. Handled cars with ease and calm.)
DPD help shut down DART so protestors can safely cross tracks. Still hundreds in the crowd.

March stops outside the Dallas Police Association (the union). Protestors chanting, take a knee
Mix of chants, “I can’t breathe” and “what do we want? Justice! When do we want it now?” Still peaceful.
Marching closer to downtown. End of March just crossed I-30
Protestors just hit a law enforcement vehicle.
