The events of the last couple of weeks have really sent a clear message that black lives are under threat every single day. We cannot live in a society and a country where our rights and dignity are not equal for everyone.

As Americans, we have to stand up for what’s right. The killing of George Floyd, and the deaths of people like Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin and Renisha McBride are not isolated incidents. They are victims of a systemic cycle of injustice in our country.

We have to hold those who are perpetuating these abhorrent actions accountable, and in the case of George Floyd, that means charging all four officers who were involved. As governor, injustice and unequal treatment under the law will not be tolerated in our state.
