Why do arabs laugh along with all the Karen and BBQ Becky memes but when it’s an Arab man who couldn’t properly check a *valid* $20 check, then y’all are saying we shouldn’t hold our community accountable?
We don’t know what the Arabs in the store’s intentions were. I don’t know if maybe he was a recent immigrant that didn’t know much about racism in the US, but regardless of intention there is still the outcome that is unsettling.
Stop shielding our community, instead we need to reflect. A lot of us grow up with bodega stores and the stereotype of black people being thugs persists within our own community- how do we become better?
My point is: when a white woman calls the cops on a black man, we question everyone involved, from the karen who called to the police. Why can’t we do the same for George Floyd? This isn’t an easy topic, but we have to seriously reflect on it.
