1 LIKE = ONE TENET OF MY DAY-TO-DAY PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES
Open mindedness is of the highest virtues. Adaptability and open-mindedness are very important to survive in the age of lightening and change.
To have solid principles is also a high virtue. Ask yourself what you believe and why, and stick to those beliefs if they survive your scrutiny.
So we have a paradox. Have solid principles but keep an open mind. This is why you should always revisit your principles. Always ask why you interact with the world the way you do, and vice versa. Be both the river and the dam, you see?
Be aware of your relationship with the world. This changes, always, as you grow older. What knowledge can you gain from those around you? What knowledge can you impart on them? The latter will grow and the former shrink as you grow older, but both will always be present.
Now on to more material matters. Everything that we need as humans (life forms in general) CAN and SHOULD be taken from the earth through the simplest process possible.
This means: AVOID SYNTHETIC CHEMICALS. This is a big part of my philosophy. It isn't black and white, but generally a good rule of thumb.
The more your body will absorb and process a given chemical, the more important it is that it is from a naturally occurring source.
The 4 most important things to keep natural are, in this order of importance:
1. Food/Drink
2. Drugs
3. Toiletries
4. Clothing
I will elaborate on each of these further.
NATURAL FOOD
Food and drink is by far the most common thing that we ingest, and since it is *ingested* it is without fail absorbed into the blood, which interacts with each part of the body. It is very important to avoid shit-food as much as possible.
It should go without saying what shit food is, but some key things to look for in food are natural (deep, complex, varied) color and natural smell. If you know what I mean you know what I mean, if not, ask me I will explain further later.
NATURAL DRUGS
Due to the strong spiritual nature of psychoactive drugs, synthetic drugs should be avoided AT ALL COSTS. Nature is a pure and unbiased producer. She has no agenda. This is unanimously not true for humans.
When something is created, part of the spirit of the creator is imparted on the creature. Synthetic drugs, I would be safe to guess, are never created by somebody as pure of spirit as the mother herself.
NATURAL TOILETRIES
This one is similarly spiritual. To cleanse one's self is a very auspicious and good spiritual act.
Think to your childhood, who cleaned you before you could clean yourself? Probably your mother. So let the Mother clean you as well.
It is rare that a person needs anything but pure castille soap, scented with aromatic oils, to clean himself. Use a salve, olive oil, rendered fat, etc to moisturize. Simple as
NATURAL CLOTHING
This one can be seen as less strict. My rule is, if it is touching my skin it should be at least 90% natural fibers. This is easy with shirts, pants, etc, but good natural socks are harder to find. That's okay, there is some trade-off for durability there.
Especially in the warm months, or when working hard, natural fibers are important. Plastic tends to deteriorate in heat, this is no surprise, but where do you think all the matter which off-gasses or rubs off goes? There is a good chance it ends up in your blood stream.
Now onto daily spiritual practices. Simple ones you can use at all times.
In the west, we live in a disenchanted and material world, but that isn't the real world. It is very important for us as westerners in the throes of the Kali Yuga to encourage acceptance of and accept ourselves that the world is first and foremost a magical place.
That said, MANTRA is very good, an antidote to boredom and a way to passively increase purity of heart/magical power. I suggest OM MANI PADME HUM, the compassion mantra, as a simple starter, though anything can be used, really, as long as you understand its implications.
Repetition is a very powerful thing, and the human voice is very powerful.
Next, MINDFULNESS is of course harped on nowadays, and the western view of it is skewed, but it is nonetheless one of the foundational aspects of a healthy spirit. Many people are in the world, but not IN it. If you know what I mean.
Be so mindful that you can look past your ego at will. It is a tool, like binoculars, not a necessity, like the eyes.
WEAR YOUR EGO LIKE A LOOSE GARMENT. The Buddha said this, I will add nothing.
GOOD LUCK CHARMS
Good luck charms are incredibly underrated, and I plan to speak on them a lot more at some point. Wear a good luck charm. Wear several. Thor's hammer, crucifix, precious stones, vajra, bells, precious metals, Dharma wheel/sun wheel, four leaf clover.
All good examples of a good luck charm. Historically, simple and small luck charms have always been around the neck of the layman. No reason to change this.
I think I'm done for now, I'll add more as I think of it, thanks for coming :DDD
