A group of about 20 protesters just crossed Beatties Ford Road to gather in front of CMPD's Metro Division. Protest hasn't begun yet. "We're not going to protest the way police want us to."
There about 10 officers out front milling about asking protesters individually if they'd like to talk.
The group is at around 125 now, not including press and police.
Group of more than 150 are now walking up Beatties Ford toward the Burger King where Danquirs Franklin was killed by CMPD officer Wende Kerl last year.

Protesters are shutting down the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and LaSalle Street.
Woman in orange shirt is telling everyone to "get the fuck off of Beatties Ford," stating that nobody cares when people from this neighborhood are killed. Crowd is heading back to CMPD station now.
Many folks living in homes on Beatties Ford have been out on their porches showing support.
This guy and his bigass gun got people talking in the crowd, but he says he's here to protect protesters.

Somewhere between 300-400 people outside of the Metro Division office now.
A few officers have backed up to the doors from the street.
Those officers have now gone inside. Two officers remain outside.
Two officers continue walking down Beatties Ford to Booker Ave. Other officers were here in vehicles but retreated as we approached.
Folks are surrounding a CMPD SUV at Beatties Ford and Tate Street.

The car is leaving its spot with the help of some new officers that have arrived.
Protesters chased bike police up to Beatties Ford and Celia, where police have turned around and formed a barricade. They're preparing gas canisters.
They caught one officer on the retreat and stole his bike. They're dismantling it now.
This officer is alone near where the bike was stolen, about 50 yards from where his fellow officers have retreated to.

This officer tried to get to the station but is turning back.
His back windshield has been shattered. Still trying to back out. Some protesters helping him.
Three patrol cars just drove thru the crowd, one man says he was run off by one of them and thinks his foot is broken. Cars took pretty significant damage driving through.
Police in riot gear have just come outside.
Shooting chemical paint balls now, i took a good dose and went away for a second. Starting to rain a bit. Protesters are breaking windows out of the precinct.
Some gas cans have been thrown back at officers at the station.

Police have issued warnings that anyone in the vicinity must disperse regardless of their reason for being here or they are subject to arrest.
Got stuck behind the line as they've separated protesters into three groups. This video is looking north on Beatties Ford where the biggest group remains.
The few regular CLT protesters I've seen out here have pointed out to me just how few of them there really are. Some of them say this was organized by folks not from here who created it specifically to stir up shit and do damage, and planned it for Beatties Ford to do just that.
"Everybody who knows about organizing in this city knows what this was about," one just told me. "I wasn't gonna come."
