THREAD: 1/ At Deeds Not Words, our young people work in communities across the state who represent a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds - and many of those people within those communities who identify as Black and brown face racial violence on a daily basis.
2/ The protests unfolding in #Minneapolis show us an important truth: Police brutality, racism, and anti-blackness is a global pandemic that is disproportionately impacting and killing people of color, especially Black folks.
3/ For too long, our social and political systems have given us an inability to reckon with our country’s past and present acts of terror and racism against people of color, especially Black folks. We CANNOT let these systems and the powers that be continue to do this.
