As part of my role at NUS as a DSO I've had to stomach the fact I cant do case work.

It pains me to my core the number of disabled students I've had to signpost and advise instead of going absolutely angry at SUs. I have taken no holidays this year because I wanted to fight.
SUs arent generally representaitive of disabled students, often penalizing and disadvantaging us. It made me so angry throughout the my entire time in student politics to realise just how few people understood the social model. Please for the love of God, read up.
Covid has resulted in so many disabled students facing ridiculous challenges that shouldnt exist. If your SU is providing LESS support than their uni, fucking dissolve and restart because honestly, why do you even exist without supporting us.

We're struggling without your BS.
I just want disabled student to go through education without the idea they're a waste of resources, or that they're a burden. I'm gutted NUS will not fund a DSO, but @gender_goblin is the person to continue the fight. Fight the disablism. Fight the unfairness. To fight it all.
You wanna know what spurred this thread? It was knowing two people that formulated my understanding of disabled politics. One isnt even one Twitter.

@RachelJ_OBrien, you rock. Richard. You rock. Fuck the system.
