anyone who thinks this level of racism is a fluke clearly isn’t aware of the history of the death penalty, which is evidence that our legal system (among many other systems) intentionally disadvantages & kills POC, especially black people. thread:
1st, I’m not at all qualified to speak on the pain & trauma black people face every day. there are a lot of other resources that can speak more to that. but I am qualified to share info about capital punishment. so here’s some resources I’ve picked up if you want to know more:
among the most thorough resources accessible is the Death Penalty Information Center ( @DPInfoCtr). they post in-depth research, execution schedules & history, & other valuable information/infographics. https://deathpenaltyinfo.org
next is the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty ( @ncadp), a group that works tirelessly to advocate for those on death row while educating the public. I interned here briefly & can speak to their genuine efforts to end capital punishment.

here are NCADP’s resources on racial bias, which is full of links to help you navigate the site’s various blog posts & articles: http://www.ncadp.org/pages/racial-bias
& here is a list of recommended books they provided if you’d like some heftier reading: http://www.ncadp.org/blog/entry/ncadp-recommends-2018-suggested-reading-list
then there is the Marshall Project ( @MarshallProj), which generally reports on the criminal justice system. more relevantly to this thread, tho, they created The Next to Die ( @thenexttodie) which gives a detailed history & up-to-date schedule of executions https://www.themarshallproject.org/next-to-die
