Hey fellow white folks. I'm also feeling angry and overwhelmed. Some things I've been doing to help the situation instead of sitting in my feelings and making it about me:

1. Challenge other folks parroting racist takes (eg. the pearl-clutching re: looting).
2. If you can, donate to organizations on the ground helping protestors. Direct giving makes the most impact. Check my timeline for some links.

3. Check sources before you rt links, esp. for donations. Make sure your sending out vetted into/orgs.
4. Check in with your black friends, but do not focus it on yourself or your feelings. It's about supporting them.

5. Support and uplift black voices. If you're only rt'ing white people's takes, it's time to expand your follow lists.
6. Don't demand help or resources from black folks. There is a lot being freely offered on here. Do the work yourself. The effort to educate oneself is part of that necessary work.

7. Don't focus solely on posting about your anger. Take active steps to help.

Finally, listen.
This is not an exhaustive list. And I'm not going to get everything right. Neither are you. But keep trying. Listen to what folks directly affected say they need and do your best to help them. If you make a mistake, apologize sincerely and then change the behavior.
(excuse the typos, please.)
