!!WARNING: I AM IN NO WAY JUSTIFYING OR DEFENDING THE ACTIONS OF POLICE BRUTALITY!!
So I've seen quite a few people confused on what 3rd degree is or why he was only charged with it, so I thought I would explain a little about what you need to be charged at each degree...
M*rder in the FIRST degree is capital m*rder. In order to be charged with it there needs to be deliberate planning or premeditation. This would unfortunately be highly impossible to prove because you would have to find evidence he sought out Floyd specifically and for what reason
Second degree is where I personally think he should be charged!! This is m*rder with malicious intent and does NOT require premeditation. Here you are doing the act INTENTIONALLY without PLANNING. You can't mistake that they intended for Floyd to be killed. #RaiseTheDegree
Third degree is basically felony m*rder. It's specific to only a few states (Minnesota being on of them). This is the act of killing without intent. The reason why they are pressing this charge isn't necessarily because they are giving up or going easy on him...
This is because it requires much less evidence than 1st or 2nd degree and is more likely to stick in court. With the situation at hand, there's going to be a lot of corruption and crookedness surrounding that trial.
In concl. I am in no way defending the charge given or the act at hand. Please feel free to correct me on anything I am wrong about. Let's speak up and make a difference. We cannot be silent anymore.
