This is v. atypical for me, but I just wanted to share that @histassoc Teaching History was one of the main reasons I wanted to become a teacher. I was hooked by the passion, determination, creativity and enthusiasm shone through in every article.
I learned to appreciate it all the more as a trainee, when I realised that it was not just a source of practical inspiration but reflected hard-won professional knowledge, built by a community engaged in a collective endeavour.
When I became an NQT, it sustained me through the inevitable clashes that occurred when aspirations met reality.
Over the years reading the work of other teachers has spurred me on to continue to read, reflect & to become a better teacher. I never dreamed I would ever have a chance to make my own contribution, but the kindness & supportiveness of the editors helped me to find my own voice.
Teaching History continues to Inspire and challenge me in equal measure. Thank you @histassoc
