Hey White folks: WE are the problem. US.

If we aren’t actively working on unlearning racism, being anti-racist, and taking actions every single day - WE are perpetuating the problem. Period.

It’s on US to fix OUR structures and biases of systemic racism:

But some of the most insidious structural racism I have witnessed has been among white liberals. We do this shit across political spectrums. Own that.

Dr. Ibram Kendi literally wrote the manual: “How to be Anti-Racist” read it. Racism isn’t just the nazis with guns at the rallies. It’s woven into every single structure of this country. Get educated and pay attention.

Racism in your house? Call it out. Start the conversation. Stop being polite and afraid to rock the boat with your friends and family. Sure dinner will be uncomfortable, get over it.

I read some study (Ill try to find it): 15% of ppl do the evil thing, every time. 15% make the right decision. The other 70%? They go along w/ the flow. That adds up to 85% going along with this evil shit. Who does your silence make space for?

I worry I’ll say the wrong thing & be offensive/overstep. I am positive that I have. I’ve had friends call me out, I’ve had times I realized later “oh shit...I definitely was ignorant AF in that conversation”.

The thing is, you WILL mess up. You will say the wrong thing. It will make you feel like “Im gonna mess up, should I even say/do ANYTHING?”. If you are not uncomfortable & constantly realizing you messed up and have internalized racism then...you are not learning or changing.

Growth is painful. PERPETUATING WHITE SUPREMACY IS WORSE. Accept that you have internalized racism and you will absolutely mess up. Commit to listening and learning when you do, and being better next time. Don’t stop.
