Between the political reactions of the pandemic and the murder of George Floyd, I've reached the conclusion that the government as it currently stands does not believe that any lives matter. Not white, not black, not Asian, not Mexican/Latinx, no life whatsoever.
All we are to the government is mere pennies. I would say dollars, but that would me being kind, and I'm not feeling particularly nice at the moment. To the government, we're easily replaceable and therefore expendable.
As if that wasn't terrifying enough, the fact that, in the government's eyes, some lives are even less important and valuable than others based on the color of their skin is truly sickening.
Like, how am I worth more than someone like George Floyd, who worked consistently to change the world he saw and lived in? If we go by merit, my life should be worth less than his, but because of white supremacy, my pale ass gets a pass for being pale? That's unacceptable!
The value of lives should be based on individual's actions, not the color of skin or a political agenda. Derek Chauvin's life should be worth less than George Floyd's for his crimes. Until someone commits a heinous act, all lives should matter.
I'll end this thread with the official petition to get justice for George Floyd. If you've already signed it, then great, but if you haven't, it only takes a couple seconds, and it's less than 350,000 signatures away from reaching its goal. https://www.change.org/p/mayor-jacob-frey-justice-for-george-floyd?utm_content=cl_sharecopy_22414602_en-US:v7&recruiter=3059039&recruited_by_id=f335cf30-6844-0130-07d3-3c764e048845&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_abi
