Police brutality is not about a single rogue cop.
It is about his colleagues failing to check his behavior... It is about his superiors failing to discipline him... It is about local government officials not running investigations following complaints...
It is about his colleagues failing to check his behavior... It is about his superiors failing to discipline him... It is about local government officials not running investigations following complaints...
It is about people feeling unsafe and guarded and tense in their own community because they can't trust the police... It is about those same people feeling helpless and scared and carrying the burden of trauma throughout their lives and the lives of their children...
It is about generation after generation enduring racism & having their voices muted & stories discounted... It is about social media instigators defending the murders of unarmed black men... It is about internal investigations & police chiefs & legal systems doing the same...
It is about the cop learning through his family and/or his classmates and/or his mentors and/or his news providers that people of a different race have no value...
It is about systemic racism coming to a head.
