Can we create a thread of people/projects/organisations that are dedicated to helping black people (without being ultra-capitalist about it). Whether it's in the community, academics doing theorising work, youth work, cultural spaces, etc. Whatever the 'help' is, post it below!
I just think in these times, it's important to recognise the people doing things (however small it may seem) so we can support and uplift those voices. And also provide a bit of a morale boost as work *is* being done, things *are* shifting (however slowly).
Shall I start? Okay. We go to the community with some great initiatives. @4FrontProject, @LillzTrackLife's 'The Reach Out Project', @YPInsight @JUTMentoring (all youth focused); @BTProject_ (black access to culture), @HomeGirlsUnite (for eldest immigrant daughters in the UK).
Next, let's get into politics. @SocOfColour and everyone involved (new, but finally a force to hold Labour accountable), shout out some of our fave black women MPs @HackneyAbbott, @DawnButlerBrent, @MarshadeCordova, @BellRibeiroAddy!
Next into knowledge & academia! So we have @divanificent (of course), @mikaimcdermott (don't know how she does it, but her platform brilliantly blends intelligence and creativity), @dontsmileattee (also creator of black girls camping trip), I'm sure I follow more eeekkkkkkkk
Flowing through into the journo/writer space; accurately reporting on all things black. @galdemzine (and everyone involved), @iamntyrell, @ChantayyJayy, @Habibakatsha, @jasebyjason, @SopeSoetan
Now into the space I'll be able to @ the most people in; creative & culture sectors! People/orgs paying it forward and helping grow black cultures/people through culture: @jojoldn, @blkintheday, @HenrieVIII, @SocialFixt, @shannieloves, @_TheOtherBox, @amahra_, @otbpodcastuk
When contributing to this thread, please don't just @ people with black businesses/ventures (which capitalise off of things), this is about people and organisations which are moving to change, advance and liberate (eventually) black people!
Remember; if you're interacting with this thread (opening/adding/RTing/liking any of these tweets), then you need to be *following* all of these people/orgs mentioned and *supporting* them (pertaining to their needs). This means DONATING, UPLIFTING THEIR VOICES, ETC!
You can follow @jalekapo.
