the education system is one of the largest reproducers of racism
(IN THE UK) slavery and colonialism isn’t taught with entire truth and historical accuracy - i remember being taught about the movement of goods and capital - there was HARDLY any focus on the wellbeing of slaves and the aftermath of slavery other than the economic prosperity -
- in the West, there was nothing about the detriment to slaves as human beings nor the detrminent to African and Asian colonies and definitely not about the impacts in the 21st century which include institutionalised racism and high levels of poverty in these communities -
- by ignoring this part of education, the majority of children grow up not knowing that the ancestry and history of black people is full of thief and exploitation by whites and instead believe racist comments like ‘black people don’t work hard enough’ (not my words) and -
- will never recognise that black people have been cut off from prosperity and growth for decades (stemming from exploitation by whites) and these children grow up and racism continues to reproduce itself within the system and black people continue to be left out -
a disproportionate number of black to white students in the most prestige education institutions e.g. oxbridge, a larger difficulty in career progression, neglect by major health and beauty brands, access to worse healthcare and the list goes ON -
- this will never change without the teaching of history to become more culturally sensitive and for diverse conversation to be had within the classroom, children need to learn the truth and they need to understand empathy early.
i will write an essay about this one day the politics student in me cannot help myself, thanks good evening

also can’t help but throw shade but this will never change under a conservative govt bc they are only concerned about the contents of their wallets and equity doesn’t correspond too well with that
