Want to be a more intersectional urbanist? Make sure you're following Planners of colour already doing the work and elevate their voices. When they say something that makes you uncomfortable, sit with why, and then ask yourself what you can do to improve your own work.
If you aren't already following, I recommend @bambinoir @Jay_Pitter @BuiltJustice @blackurbanist @multimodalshrty as a few places to start. Please don't ask them to do your work for you, just listen and then use that to start your own research.
And then act. Once you know what is actually happening and how your work is implicit in it, do something about it. https://twitter.com/bambinoir/status/1266447277838618624?s=21 https://twitter.com/bambinoir/status/1266447277838618624
I don't know how I ended up with a semi-large platform on this garbage website because I am a person who does not enjoy attention and gets anxious when tweets get engagement. But the best I can do with it is lift up expert voices and push those who already know to act.
