Man, people in my mentions are so concerned about people stealing TVs.

A community in chaos because the most basic government institution is a corrosive force in the community and y'all like "THINK OF THE SAMSUNGS"

Riots/uprisings are a symptom of larger problems. Focus there.
To be very clear, I'm not condoning the looting, the arson, or any violence. I'm one of those weird dudes that believes in both civil rights and property rights.
I was talking about the type of comment that for some reason focused on TVs--I just can't imagine what that reason would be🙃--and suggesting the rioting wholly delegitimized the initial and ongoing protests by people who are not destroying property.
But as I approach ratio status on the first tweet in this thread, I'm not backing down from the point.

US cops kill people every day & this doesn't happen.

Something is and has been so wrong in that area that the protest happened and the wanton destruction was able to happen.
And if you're going to be pointing fingers, you need to look at the institutions that set the groundwork for all of this to transpire.

Sure, individual criminal actors are responsible for the fires they set and they should be held accountable.
But what accontability is there for a provocative, abusive police force? https://twitter.com/stribrooks/status/1266186985041022976
If you want property rights to be respected, you need to make sure civil rights are respected. It doesn't make what happened right, and I'm sure as hell not saying the destroyed businesses deserved it.

But that community needs serious change to make it safer for everyone. /fin
