Convo with my teens today. When you see someone in a situation that makes you uncomfortable, imagine how they must feel. Stop, bear witness safely. Pull your phone out, record. Call the police even if it is a person in authority causing the problem. Don& #39;t put yourself in harm& #39;s
way. Indigenous males are more likely to be arrested & convicted. Indigenous females are more likely to be ignored. Queer people experience more violence than straight people. Women & girls are more likely to experience abuse & harassment. People of colour are more likely to be
blamed and targeted for policy or economic challenge, assumed to be impoverished, or assumed they& #39;re "not from here", as though being born here is the only path to human decency & respect. English as a 2nd language is fair game for harassment. Not practicing Christianity makes
you a target for hatred. Yes, we need these convos too. Yes, we need to recognize where we hold privilege & use that to help & amplify, rather than looking for examples & experiences to justify our inaction.
