BREAKING: Derek Chauvin, the ex-Minneapolis Police who killed George Floyd, has been arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington has announced.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, who has the authority to bring criminal charges against Derek Chauvin, will hold a press conference at 1 p.m.

BREAKING: Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says Derek Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

Derek Chauvin is the first white police officer in Minnesota history to be charged with with murder while on duty.

BREAKING: Attorney General William Barr says his office will conduct an independent investigation into the killing of George Floyd to determine whether any federal civil rights laws were violated.

This from the criminal complaint: Chauvin "had his knee on Mr. Floyd's neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in total. Two minutes and 53 seconds of this was after Mr. Floyd was non-responsive."
