Hi. First off, I& #39;m one of the co-founders of #BlackoutDay and I want to mention a few things. I normally tweet within @theblckout account, but because I don& #39;t have access to it ATM (we& #39;ll still setting up some things on our end and I& #39;m busy), so I& #39;ll say a few things here.
Yesterday, the website went down because people wanted information and I allocated too little bandwidth. My bad. It& #39;s back up.
So, we have some guidelines and the #BlackoutDay on May 31st will use those guidelines. http://theblackout.org/guidelines/ ">https://theblackout.org/guideline...

In all my years of helping run the #Blackout, we ask non-Black people to just don& #39;t use the tags. You CAN partake in Blackout by retweeting the #BlackoutDay, commenting on your favorite ones. show off your friends/family...
... or don& #39;t. You can avoid them.
That& #39;s it.

You can use Twitter or whatever social media site you like. It& #39;s never a goal to stop you from using it even for one day. We just want you to respect the space & the guidelines established within that space.
I think the guidelines we established are reasonable.

Now, a lot of you asked "are we involved in #BlackoutDay2020"... to that it& #39;s simply... "we didn& #39;t call it". It& #39;s a different movement, headed by @thecalvinmartyr (not T.I. AKA Tip). This one has a different goal and a long term plan.
Because #BlackoutDay2020 got an action plan to it, it& #39;s best to speak to @thecalvinmartyr and NOT just rely on the memes that are floating around about it. It& #39;s his idea, he& #39;s executing it and it& #39;s more than just "a one-day call-to-action" from what I read.
More to come...
More to come...
So, TL;DR -
1) #BlackoutDay is May 31.
2) If you& #39;re a non-Black person, you can partake by retweeting with/without commenting. Just don& #39;t use the hashtag yourself.
3) #BlackoutDay2020 is by @thecalvinmartyr. They got a different idea and it& #39;s best to talk to them.

Lastly, we are a movement that respects all Black people. Every single one of them. No matter your religion, your gender, or beliefs. We want to be all-inclusive, hear all types of stories, and show you some love.
Because the universe knows we need a break.

With all that said... I need to head to my regular job.
I want to thank @sqpphc for their efforts. Trust me, I know how hard it can be to run something and how hard it is to walk away. But I appreciate you for waking up a sleeping giant. We needed that poke.
