since i was almost trained in conspiracy as a kid and now im an IT student, i thought i’d make a thread of things you can do to reduce your online paper trail

please note; i am no expert, i am simply a student who has done a small amount of research into online anonymity.
1. start using a VPN to mask what you’re doing on the internet.

a large amount of us remember using VPNs at school to get around firewalls, but this time its to try to avoid tracking.
a VPN masks your internet actions by accessing what site you’re on through a third party-
server, and then relaying the website information back to you. chinese and hong kong residents use them to access information initially restricted to them by the government through faking your location.

i personally use ProtonVPN for both my PC and cell phone.
NOTE: due to multiple people using the server you may experience slowed internet connection, however I personally believe it is worth it.
DO YOUR RESEARCH! i have personally researched ProtonVPN, and i trust it. Certain VPNs will swear privacy, but have given information to govt
2. use a private web broswer and limit how much history you keep, and what’s tracking you.

to start this point, FUCK GOOGLE ABSOLUTELY. google is known to track your every given move on the internet even without using it to search things. they will then usually sell this info-
to advertisers, which is why it feels like whenever you think about something, there is an ad for it. and if they’re gather your information for advertisers, hell knows what incriminating info they have for the government.
to start, you need a secure browser. for PC, i recommend
next, you’ll want to go into settings for your preferred browser and tinker around in the privacy and security settings. i cannot say i know everything for every browser, but generally you will want to
- Force HTTPS
- disable tracking
- disable cookies, or set to ask
- deny fingerprinting
- set history to delete in a set amount of time
now with a secure browser, you’ll want a secure search engine to match!
the universal answer for this is DuckDuckGo, which does not track at all, in fact it doesn’t even remember your search history on their side since there is no account needed. also, it includes many other-
websites that google will intentionally censor, again FUCK GOOGLE, you will see a lot more of the internet, tracking free.
3. start using email burners for online accounts.
something police forces will do in order to track someone is once they find your email, they will try to find every single account registered with said email to assemble a “fingerprint” of who you are and what you do. to combat-
this, i try to have 2-3 burner email accounts to register my accounts with in order to not be traced as easily.

any email works, props if they are from different email providers
these above are things everyone can do to throw off trackers, not only police, but identity theft and hackers as well. remember to use strong passwords and change them between different accounts.

the following are points to follow when protesting, or when near protests.
4. obscure your face as best as possible.

with a pandemic underway, it should be obvious to wear a safety mask, but beyond that, i recommend wearing a hat that will cover your face from higher angles, preferably unmarked, or popular enough to where multiple people will wear it
not only will shades/sunglasses cover your eyes, they also have a large field of coverage, helping the fight against tear gas. in addition, a heavily wet scarf over the mask will also protect you from a small amount of tear gas.
5. post all videos from anonymous accounts and limit reporters access to you.

i cannot stress this enough, once you bind a video to your social media, it will never die. but you can. the person that published the panama papers was murdered, jeffery epstein was murdered. those-
with stories against the rich/establishment will die mysteriously without media representation because the media sticks with the establishment by default. you will be no different.

post videos on twitter and reddit under burner accounts and/or social medias not represented by-
your face or likeness. currently, i see nothing wrong with supporting to protests on your own social media, but do not link live video or recorded exposes on your personal social media.
6. turn your location off and/or use a burner phone.

this one is pretty obvious, turn off tracking to yknow, keep them from calling out where you are.
burner phone are a bit more situational, for example, you’re with a group and you need to make sure none of you get lost. make
sure all plans are coordinated with your group beforehand in order to reduce confusion and be able to pinpoint when your party member goes missing, to rule out obvious answers
7. charge your phone and turn your microphone on during the protest!
if police are found to violate your rights !on recording! a half baked lawyer can move to have all charges dismissed. this goes for not being read your miranda rights, not being told why you are being held, etc
this is all i can currently think of so please feel free to like and RT to someone in need. remember, no justice no peace, all cops are bastards, black lives matter.
