Ranking Every Park in Vancouver: Fairview Edition
10. WILLOW PARK

- Little parklet with no actually interesting park features
- Empty bulletin board has very 90s vibe
- Good place to sit; that's about it
9. CHOKLIT PARK

- You know that lookout along 7th Avenue with the pretty flowers? It's actually a park!

- A two-level brutalist flower park

- A park where half of has seriously accessibility issues

- A park that's good to sit see the view and not much else

- fun name tho
8. BEE PARK (also known as 5th and Pine pop-up Park)

- For a small temporary space without much infrastructure, it's fun
- Nice big picnic tables for physically distancing In This Time
- Once the kids get tired of looking at the mural there's nothing for them
7. GRANVILLE PARK

- The eastern half is a big flat mediocre field for dogs and not much else, unless you like lawn bowling
- The western half has an interesting narrow field with fun framing on the sides
- That brings up the ranking, but it's still very meh
6. GRANVILLE LOOP PARK

- Interesting use of space around the bridge that doesn't quite come together!
- Mural in the tunnel is nice; lighting has improved
- Fun brutalism inspired pond
- Playground has seen better days
- Good for tennis, average for everything else
5. SUTCLIFFE PARK

- Weirdly disjointed area directly south of Granville Island
- Nice views, nice plants, but more a place to walk through than to sit down and enjoy
- still confused what that old piece of mining equipment is
4. LAUREL LANDBRIDGE

- secret green bridge in the middle of the city HELLO YES YOU ARE MY FRIEND
- neat little oasis, doesn't feel too manufactured, fun opportunities for kids to scamper up mini hills
- obviously not much to do, but the novelty is super enjoyable
3. GRANVILLE ISLAND WATER PARK

- A quarter of our points system is "would kids enjoy this?" and hecking yes they would
- Unique water features, good use of space, decent non-water playground equipment
- For parents, a pretty good spot to half watch their kids from, not much else
2. UNTITLED 6TH AND FIR PARK

- One of the city's newest parks, very well designed for a small space
- Kids have a fun playground with great shapes/colour scheme, adults have a nice lawn and Beaucoup Bakery next door
- integrated into the area beautifully
- needs a name!
1. CHARLESON PARK

- Obviously the seawall views and the big, bowl-shaped dog park are great
- But if you go further south, there's a lovely waterfall, a quiet pond, some nice walking trails
- Feels very natural for such a busy area
- Excited to see the new playground being built
