A lot of people’s theology stops at “Jesus died for our sins” but fails to include that he was *KILLED* for trying to bring justice to the world.
The Roman government wasn’t just trying to crucify Jesus for inspiring a new faith. The Roman government crucified Jesus for disrupting order, challenging the status quo, and inspiring a MOVEMENT to change the systems of the world — including the church and government.
When we celebrate the Resurrection Story, we often leave out the actions that led up to that “Good Friday” where Christ was crucified.

Monday of that same week, Jesus was flipping tables and using a whip to run away businessmen who were taking advantage of poor people. John 2:15
Church leaders that call for peace instead of working towards change & justice are not following Christ, but instead are resembling the ‘white moderate’ that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called out in his Letter from Birmingham Jail.
“Do not suppose that I come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” Matthew 10:34.

The gospel of Christ wants us to get uncomfortable and shake things up. The gospel of Christ understands that true justice is necessary in order for true peace.
