Lol when y’all say “But what about Black on black crime?” Does it make you feel good about yourself?
Black on black crime is the oldest most outdate “phenomenon” in the book. Actually, scratch that. It came about as a “journalized phenomenon” in the 80’s. White on black crime is far more historic and deep seeded, being that it started with slavery hundreds of years ago.
But let’s talk about black on black crime and why it isn’t a phenomenon as so many Americans think it is. One, in a capitalist society, Marx predicted that crime is inevitable. Meaning that people are going to kill as long as American society is under capitalism.
This also means that killing each other is not racially specific to just blacks under capitalistic America. People kill those they live around. And if you look at the stats, white people mostly kill other whites, Latinos mostly kill Latinos and blacks mostly kill blacks etc.
That does not mean this is ok but placing an over emphasis on “black on black” crime reiterates a false narrative that blacks are inherently violent. And it also gives justification to police violence we see being conducted upon blacks.
Also, In almost every black metropolitan area there are anti violence organizations fighting the crime in their communities. So when people say things like “y’all don’t care about black on black violence” that is not true. People do care the media just doesn’t care to show it!
However!!!! The concept of black on black violence does not shoot up this much uprise as white on black violence does and it shouldn’t. You know why? Because when black on black violence occurs that black person who committed the crime will be found guilty and sentenced.
MEANWHILE, in the case of white on black violence the whites are often given a slap on a wrist, a small unsuitable sentence IF they even receive any punishment at all. And that’s why we are mad. THAT IS WHY WE ARE UPSET.
