WHY WE SAY #ACAB.

ACAB stands for all cops are bastards.

it’s a phrase that protests the systematic injustice of the police system - primarily in the West.

people of colour, and predominantly black people, are continuously killed by cops who rarely face consequences.

the system is inherently abusive, inhumane and completely flawed, as it is designed to target minorities.

it was created to give power to white men by handing them a badge and a gun and a right to kill people of colour.

they get away with murder because of their authority.

so we use ACAB as a way to protest how absolutely disgusting it is that the police - those meant to PROTECT us - murder people of colour on a near-daily basis, and they get away with it thanks to the institutional racism ingrained in their system on every level.

and if your response is ‘well, my uncle is a cop and he’s a great guy!’

no, no he’s not. so-called ‘good cops’ are simply complicit at best. there is no such thing as a truly good cop because when you sign up to be an officer, you are signing up to enforce unjust laws.

it is inhumane that cops are able to get away with first degree murder because they are wearing a uniform. and it it even worse that their system will protect them even when they kill innocent poc. this is why we say #ACAB.
