8th Worcesters hold off the Panzers at Bambecque as do 1st Welsh Guards between West Cappel and Quaëdypre before withdrawing after dark back into the Dunkirk perimeter.
At Cassel, 145 Brigade is surrounded, the German point of attack now against B Company 2nd Gloucesters. At dusk the defenders will attempt to break out. 8 Platoon, 2nd Gloucesters continue to hold the blockhouse at le Peckel despite German attempts to burn them out with petrol.
The war diary of Guderian’s XIX Corps comments on the fighting around Wormhout: ‘The Corps commander is of the opinion that further sacrifice should be avoided after the severe casualties suffered’. On 29 May XIV Motorised Corps takes over the battle as the Panzers are withdrawn.
