Let’s have a quick chat! What business can one start with R500 capital? My advice
- Clothes reseller dont need capital, they advertise, get people to buy & ask them to pay deposit. Use the deposit to buy stock.
- Magwinya business: target construction areas or busy intersection.

- Selling food: target construction or taxi rank. You might need a permit.
- Hair salon: though one might need training, there are basic plaits that can be done. Target house calls.
- Child minder: with Covid-19, more parents are stressed about safety in crèches.

Instagram boutiques buy from Yellowsub in Marabastad however that shop is expensive if you are a reseller hence the Insta boutiques are so expensive. Rather find same stuff in Joburg.

There’s a gap in online teaching / homework assistant especially now that kids are behind with school work. Proper research still need to be done in terms how much internet/ data required & schedule one on one session with the kids as not all kids do well in group sessions.

- Selling Crockery & kitchenware. No capital required just advertise & ask for 50% deposit then you covered.
- Social media Influencers: no capital required. Build good content & have more followers. Avoid negativity even though others believe controversy creates cash

Selling fruits & vegetables: Not much capital required depending on your target market. If you can, open an account with a courier company preferably prepaid & sell online. You don’t necessarily need to have fully fledged e-commerce app but communicate clearly.

Handyman services: there’s always a blocked pipe or broken something in every household. Like right now the globes in my house have been out for 3 months

Business is about convenience, with Covid-19 stats going up, people would want services such as shopping assistants. Running errands such as license renewals & standing at any que nje. Think about that business called “ We que for you”! They killing it.

Mobile cash wash: just buy your chemicals & do house calls.

Travel & tour business: you need to be very reliable but you can literally run the business without having to inject a cent from your own pocket.

- Iroining & house cleaning services: why do you need an agent if you can market yourself & do house calls? No capital required except your transport fare.

Hair resellers: you find them queuing @ Dragin City & hair is very cheap there. They make up to 200% profit if not more. Others buy in China check AliExpress for different suppliers. You get them within 7 days. Again, advertise, get deposit & use to buy stock.

Face masks: This are going to be part of our lives for the longest time. Target friends, family & people in your community or church. There’s always someone who needs a mask.
- Baking : start small with basics and as you grow add biscuits etc
