Because I probably won’t have time to convey this into a periscope I rather tweet out what I would have said in this thread.
Years ago, one of my aunts that taught at Hampton appeared in the Iverson doc that was on ESPN. During one of the last segments she brought up something that always stuck with me.
When black folks (some that is) reach a certain level of success they get this attitude of I have arrived I can eat wherever I want sit wherever I want to sit and all that shit. They then stick their nose in the air at other black folks and feel that since they
arrived at this juncture in life with their success it’s fuck everyone else.

That’s the vibe you get with people like Lil Wayne.
Lil Wayne isn’t going to understand social issues the way we do. He’s encased in his own thought process and I don’t expect him to deviate from it.

Is he a rap legend? Yes. Outside of that I don’t care what he has to say.
The point in all this? Stop looking for celebs to actually give a shit about our average lives. Because their worldview isn’t like ours. Even if they are black.
