I lived in Minneapolis for 8 years, and it& #39;s probably my favorite city in the US.

So sad right now.

It& #39;s both shocking and not surprising at the same time. (short thread)
The nice white Scandinavian Lutheran Democrats don& #39;t like racism, and vote for Keith Ellison and Ilhan Omar, but are more complacent than not. (If I& #39;m being honest, this includes me 12 years ago.)
Meanwhile, the nice white Scandinavian Evangelical Republicans that voted for Trump don& #39;t think of themselves as racist, but don& #39;t understand or don& #39;t care about the deep injustice that still exists today.
It& #39;s hard to be hopeful right now, but I think it& #39;s possible that Minneapolis changes for the better by confronting ongoing racism. It& #39;s a city that nominally wants to be progressive and equitable. Maybe this will be a wake-up call.
