You can only push people so far. The people are fed up. Black people deal with racism on a daily basis, from personal microagressions, to systemic biases, to violence. For a lifetime. Add to that months of a pandemic where the government neglected both prevention and containment-
Add to that once it was reportered that we are disproportionately impacted, suddenly it was time to “open the country.” Add to that multiple police killings of black ppl this month alone. Add a video we all saw with our own eyes of a non resisting black man murdered by police...
How much can you really expect people to take? The message we have received over and over is that our lives do not matter to our government. People can only be pushed so far.
You can talk all you want about how people SHOULD respond to a lifetime of oppression and mistreatment, but until you’ve experienced it, either help or be quiet. People are tired and fed up and have simply been pushed too far.
Have some tear gas and pepper spray and rubber bullets shot at you and see how long you stay peacefully protesting. Knowing damn well that when protests do stay peaceful y’all have a problem with that too.
