Thread on the most bizarre planets discovered đŸȘ :
Gliese 1214 b - The Waterworld

GJ 1214 b is a huge “waterworld” 3 times the size of Earth. The water contributes to 10% of its mass compared to Earth’s 0.05%. It is thought that its oceans may reach depths of 1,000 mi. Whilst the deepest the Earth’s oceans have gone is 7 mi.
PSR J1719-1438 b - The Diamond Planet

This planet is made of pure diamond. It’s a carbon-based planet 5 times the size of earth. Due to the immense pressure caused by the planet’s gravitational pull, the carbon has been condensed, forming a gigantic diamond.
CoRoT-7b - Where it rains rocks

This planet is tidally locked. The side facing the sun reaches temperatures as high as 2,200°C, where the rocks/lava evaporate, whilst the other side drops to as low as -210°C, where the lava condenses/solidifies again and rains as rocks.
HD 189733 b - Where it rains Glass

This planet has a silica-concentrated atmosphere which causes the planet’s clouds to rain molten glass, which hardens as it falls. Its winds reach up to 5,400 mph pushing the glass at such speeds that the shards fly through the air horizontally
Gliese 436b - The burning ice ball

This planet orbits its star at a distance 15 times closer than Mercury to the sun and the icy surface roasts at 439°C. Yet the ice remains solid as the strong gravity compresses any water vapor in the atmosphere into solid ice, preventing melt
Ogle-2005-Blg-390lb - A Frozen Wasteland

This planet is very far away from its red dwarf star hence feels little heat. Hence it is one of the coldest known planets with a surface temp of -220 °C. The entire planet is covered in a thick layer of complete ice.
Tres-4b - A Puffy Planet

This planet is one of the largest planets ever discovered so far though it is over 1.7 times the size of Jupiter, it has an extremely low density, about the same density as a cork. Hence called a puffy planet.
Psr J1719–1483 B - Orbits a Pulsar

This planet orbits a pulsar an extremely compact and dense neutron star that is about the size of a large city. It has a diameter of 12 miles, but its mass is 1.4 times the mass of the Sun.
Tres-2b - Darker Than Coal

This planet has been identified as the darkest known planet, reflecting less than 1% of any light that hits it and the light reflected is dimly red which gives the planet an evil like red color.
Kepler-16b - Two Suns
This planet is one of the only planets ever found that orbits a binary star system
HD 188753 - Three Suns
This planet is the first known planet to reside in a ‘triple star system’
Where the planet orbits a star, which orbits another star, which orbits another star.
Psr B1620-26 B - Ancient Planet

This planet has an estimated age of 13 billion years. It's about as old as a planet can be. It formed around a young, sun-like star barely 1 billion years after our universe's birth and orbits a pair of burnt out stars. Earth is 4.5 Bil years old.
HR 5183 b -Looped Orbit
Just recently discovered this Planet, 3 times larger than Jupiter, has an orbit where it loops around its star on a highly elliptical path, unlike any planet. This is the planet’s orbit depicted:
