Okay, a short thread of my thoughts on covering George Floyd and the developing story of the protests etc.

First, I'd never be afraid to cover a topic in fear of losing listeners.

But the thing is, I don't feel like my personal opinion is that important at this moment.. 1/
If someone wants my opinion, and asks for it, I'll share it.

But instead of adding yet another white guys thoughts, I instead believe people like me should promote, support, elevate the voices of people who don't get heard enough. 2/
My freedom to express an opinion includes my freedom to choose to take a step back and be supportive.

Listen to the voices of people with first hand perspective, who have lived the reality of racism and racial violence. 3/
There's a ton of people out there needing to be heard more than my pasty ass.

So if you want to hear about this topic, I encourage you to go to them, be a good, respectful, attentive listener to their thoughts, their feelings, and take them seriously. /4
