I know some of you start refreshing my feed feverishly right about now before the daily COVID-19 start coming in, so I'm gonna highjack your attention this time to sing the praises of my wife @vickiessex on the 10th anniversary of our marriage.

(Yes, this pic is real.)
The joke of pandemic politics has been "this just proves how all of my priors were always and still are correct."

Well, no joke: COVID-19 has proven that the best decision I ever made was to marry this woman, and I can't imagine trying to go through all this with anyone else.
She has been an absolute rock for me through all this. I have tried to share the burden of childcare with her, but I have failed far more than I like to admit. She has handled the strain of trying to home-school the Irrational Biped while doing her day job magnificently.
I knew she was a fantastic mother before COVID-19, but watching our daughter handle this disruption to her young life with good cheer, equanimity, and a minimum of meltdowns shows me what unconditional love can do even when the world conspires to take stability and safety away.
None of this is a surprise, only a confirmation. We’ve been a team for a lot longer than we’ve been married, and she supported me through two degrees and long periods of precarious work and low wages, something I’ve only been able to repay a little in the last few years.
I am acutely aware of my good fortune, today. I don’t deserve her. And if you’ve appreciated my work over the last few months or even before that, well, my failures are my own but my successes are properly credited to her as well.
I love you, Vicki. Hope we can do this marriage thing for a long, long time to come.
