We can heal America. First, that means accepting it is not an easy process and, yes, most of us with privilege may lose something we unfairly had before to build a better society after. (Taxes are a perfect example). That is called growing up but it will offer emotional closure.
This of course won't happen if the fact that America's original sin of Native genocide along with the shredding of the history/humanity of fellow Americans is never reckoned with. It's much worse than we thought because actual evil supremacists are why that closure never happens.
They mask themselves in business suits and police uniforms, but they still hold power and influence. This goes for white supremacist all the way to religious supremacists. Supremacy altogether is toxic and it is brutally unleashed through violence by law enforcement.
That is not how you build a nation. A political party like the @GOP tacitly endorsing supremacy of all forms in a democracy, is not American. But it certainly is American carnage.
