this is correct. it& #39;s not the threat of violence from police that stop people from going buck wild and stealing/destroying things

creating a person who won& #39;t do those things requires BOTH A) that their basic needs are met B) inculcation with values that discourage it

you will see people on here who argue that A) alone will do the trick, but that& #39;s a lie.

people with full bellies will torch their neigbhorhood if a sports franchise wins a title

or allow public spaces to rot away because they don& #39;t care about things communally held

there are people who think B) is the answer by itself, which is also a lie. I shouldn& #39;t have to explain why: bread riots, armed robbery of flour during the depression

I don& #39;t think there are a lot of people in power who genuinely believe this anymore, though

it would be very interesting to look at the people who are in camp A vs camp B

how many of them are there? what places do they hold in society?
