and it's mystery ,it's pride for Tn

1.Brihadishvara Temple, also called Rajarajesvaram or Peruvudaiyar Kovil, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva located in South bank of Kaveri river in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India

2. It is called as Dhakshina Meru (Meru of south).[5] Built by Tamil king Raja Raja Chola I between 1003 and 1010 AD, the temple is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Great Living Chola Temples", along with the Chola dynasty era Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple

3. The original monuments of this 11th century temple were built around a moat. It included gopura, the main temple, its massive tower, inscriptions, frescoes and sculptures predominantly related to Shaivism, but also of Vaishnavism and Shaktism traditions of Hinduism.

4. The temple was damaged in its history and some artwork is now missing. Additional mandapam and monuments were added in centuries that followed. The temple now stands amidst fortified walls that were added after the 16th century.

5. Built out of granite the vimana tower above the sanctum one of the tallest in South in all likelihood one of the tallest structures in the world at the time of its constructioncitation needed  has a massive colonnaded prakara corridor one of the largest Shiva lingas in India

8. The underground passages lead to the other temples and also to the other places .Most underground passages were sealed if the people choose the wrong passage then there are possibilities that the path may also lead to dangers. This is trap for safety of Raja Raja Chola.

9. The biggest mystery of all the other mystery in Tanjore big temple is the huge cap stone in the top of the Tanjore big temple. The weight of the cap stone at the top of Tanjore big templeweighs 80 tons.

10. The main exclamation about the cap stone is that how come the builders of Tanjore big temple were able to place the cap stone at the top of the Gopuram in Tanjore big temple. There were no cranes or any high end equipments used in those days to do these works.

11only thing that can help is the elephants huge cap of Tanjore big temple constructed in a way that the shadow of the Tanjore big temple Gopuram will not fall on the ground. It will just fall on itself This particular planning type of construction is not easy task to go with.

12. There are lots of high quality paintings in the Tanjore big temple that explain many things about the kingdom of Raja Raja Chola and also the greatness of the Raja Raja Chola. Some paintings also explain about the Raja Raja Chola's favorite God Shiva.

13  In the secret passage from Tanjore big temple there were great paintings present that explain about many great things. The most admiring part of thepainting in Tanjore big temple is the painting of Raja Raja Chola offering his respect to his Guru.

14. The granite stones are one of the strongest stones in the world. With the strength of the granite stone the stone is also equally heavy enough that it cannot be carried from one place to other place in the easy way.

15.The stones that are used in Tanjore big temple were brought from a place that is 50 miles away from the Tanjore big temple. Without elephants the work might not be possible for the transportation of the rocks from that place. It is said that more than 1000 elephants were used

16. The secret passages were also built by Raja Raja Chola in his period of time. The secret passages were something different from the underground passages. The underground passages were built to connect several temples built by him together.

17. Secret passage were built in such a way that it connects the secret places of the chola kings together like the one that connects the Palace of Raja Raja Chola and the Tanjore big temple. The secret passages in Tanjore big temple also consisted of many paintings .

18. There will be one painting that represents Raja Raja Chola offering his respect to his Guru. Most of the underground passages were blocked and closed because of the safety reasons. There were also some dangers in some of the underground passages from Tanjore big temple.

19. While searching more about this , I found out that ,there is an ancient belief that rulers or politicians /Statesmen who visit this temple through the main entrance will fall from their post after doing this , by a curse of sage karuvuraar.

20. Raja Raja chola had a big debate with his guru on what language needs to be used while inaugurating the temple where his guru said it needs to be in sanskrit Raja Raja chola wants to be in tamil , i support raja raja chola on his tamil stand and his guru not came to temple
