Latinxs that say, “Black people don’t respect us,” think again. Remember your black neighbors who invited your family to cookouts. Remember your black teachers. Remember your black friends from high school. Remember your black coworkers who you have lunch with.
Remember your Afro-Latinx classmate in college you got along with. Remember the black colleague you spoke to at an event and connected well with. Remember the black salesperson who helped you in deciding what item to purchase. Remember your half black cousins.
To these Latinxs specifically: you’re so quick to point fingers when a black person do you wrong, but cry for equality for our people. Do you NOT see them crying as much as our people do? Do you NOT understand their pain? Start fighting with them, since they fight with us.
Fighting as in fighting for justice. Should’ve used a better term here. Regardless, how many murders is it gonna take for y’all to understand that this is WRONG? Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? For my white latinxs, SPEAK UP. SPEAK TF UP.
Latinxs who grew up in the hood, SPEAK UP. Latinxs who grew up in the suburbs but clicked with your black peers in school, SPEAK UP. Latinxs who are married or have children with a black person, SPEAK UP! Latinxs who work with black people, SPEAK UP!
Black Lives Matter.
