it took a whole five minutes before someone started asking questions in bad faith, and pretending they were having a debate

please don't engage with the "very smart man™ just asking questions™" they have already made it very clear they think everyone should "die a bit quieter"

when you debate people who are racist you are accepting their world view as reasoned

the only time people are "just asking a question" earnestly is when they prefix it with "i have no idea, this is confusing to me and i do not know any better"

and even then it's rare

"ah, but what about?" there are no what abouts, people are being killed by cops. black people are being murdered by the state without consequence

i am not here to debate other people's lack of empathy, or to work through someone's youtube video talking points

yes, people will earnestly ask "but why do riots have to break things" and the answer is always "as a last resort"

this is not the first killing, nor the first killing by the cop in question

this is about people who have been repeatedly failed by the state, exploited too

when the queer book stores, the immigrant run restaurants go untouched in a neighbourhood on fire, focusing on the billion dollar retail outlets is beyond asinine

it's purposefully building a narrative arguing that people deserve to be shot—ignoring that's the cause of unrest

for some of you, yes "it works on your machine", you have the means of power, you can call for oversight, or accountability

that is evidently not the case here

when you can add "and that's why they deserve to die!" to someone's leading questions, that should make it obvious what sort of debate you're having, and what sort of person you're having it with

they will move the goal posts over and over before saying the quiet part out loud

people have already been dying quietly and that is why there is a riot, calls for "civility" are nothing more than bare faced demands to return to that status quo

you cannot say it is just one cop when the entire department turns up to protect them, and it's beyond naive to think otherwise

this is the system working as intended, this is what the system does, this is its purpose

people who say "well, if you don't play by the rules!" have long accepted that the rules are "we can kill you without consequence"

you don't have to accept either, people's lives aren't a debate
