I woke up this morning. I grabbed my iPad and read some news and then I cried. I walked to my son& #39;s room and watched him sleep and I cried. It& #39;s been pretty emotional being black in America this week. I don& #39;t know what to tell my son.
"Listen to cops, just don& #39;t go anywhere with them. Respect the law, but remember it might not respect you. Not all cops are bad, but the ones that are make it REALLY shitty for you, so don& #39;t trust cops." The one thing I can tell him is that his privilege DOESN& #39;T MEAN SHIT.
Then I see @realDonaldTrump tweet. "When the looting starts the shooting starts." White cops caught on video killing a man deserve due process. Black and brown people damaging property in anger deserve an immediate death sentence. This is from the President of the United States.
Then seeing a camera crew arrested for covering this protest and having that imagery juxtaposed with white men, armed for war, protesting the protective actions FOR A HEALTH PANDEMIC, inside a state capital. Doesn& #39;t sit right.
