CNN tweet says reporter and crew 'were arrested this morning in Minneapolis for doing their jobs, despite identifying themselves - a clear violation of their First Amendment rights. The authorities in Minnesota, incl. the Governor, must release the 3 CNN employees immediately.'
CNN correspondent Omar Jiminez and his production team were handcuffed and detained during live coverage of the Minneapolis protest. Police told them they were being arrested because they didn't move when they were told to, CNN reports.
Omar Jiminez could be seen on air telling police: 'We can move back to where you like. We're getting out of your way.' CNN reports that its president, Adam Zucker, has spoken with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who said he apologizes and is working to have the crew released.
UPDATE: The CNN reporter and crew members arrested while covering the Minneapolis protests have been released.
