I am writing this with a very heavy heart cz I am devastated. I am devastated by the fact that people can be so insensitive and brutal towards someone.
So, someone named"Surleen Kaur" did a comedy show wherein she disrespected the religious beliefs of our Hindu community.
Someone tagged me yesterday thinking I am that Surleen Kaur and that is how I came to know of her. I saw the video and believe me o am equally mad and hurt as all of you guys are . I understand your emotions, your anger but you are taking it out on a person knew nothing about it.
I didn& #39;t know until 24 hours ago that some stand up comedian named "Surleen Kaur" ever existed. Believe me when I say that I am more hurt than you because not only did she disrespect an entire community but also she shares my name which has proven to be highly unfortunate for me.
I have tried to personally respond to each and every hatred filled tweet, trying to tell everyone that they are tagging the wrong person but I don& #39;t think that got me any good. People are asking me to prove that. How do I do that? You tell me.
I have been listening to all sorts of things from so many people (see pics below). Just imagine what it would do to a person who has been mercilessly dragged into this mess that has been created by someone else and I herself completely innocent.
I am just a girl named "Surleen Kaur" who is a research scholar and no stand up comedian. You can find the "Surleen Kaur" you are looking for on Instagram (see pic below)
So many people have been hurt, including myself due to this incident. I stand with you guys and I stand with @IskconInc in this situation. Whatever happened, should not have happened, but I have nothing to do with that. Hence I request you all to please cut me some slack.
You have a right to be mad and enraged and express you emotions and anger, but please be mad at the right person. I am getting all the hate, abuses, threats and what not for something I haven& #39;t done.
